Each year we invite artists and curators to apply for two-person or group exhibitions, which are juried by a panel of art professionals including a curator, a writer, an artist and a member of the PS122 Gallery Advisory Board.
We accept applications from individual artists, 2-person groups or other small groups. Individual artists are encouraged to apply. They will be paired with another artist by the jury. Applications from students are not accepted.
Artists selected by the jury will be given the opportunity to exhibit
their work for approximately three weeks, along with announcement
postcards, press materials and guidance from the gallery director.
While there are no geographical eligibility requirements, this opportunity
is most appropriate for artists who live within communting distance
because artists are required to install their own exhibition and
to gallery-sit on weekends.
Proposals may be hand delivered or mailed to the gallery by standard US mail. We do not accept FedEx or special deliveries. Here's how to reach us. No late applications will be considered.
Applicants are notified and slides are returned in late August. DO NOT CALL THE GALLERY REGARDING THE STATUS OF YOUR PROPOSAL. If you wish to confirm the receipt of your application, enclose a self addressed stamped postcard.
Please note: You must include a SASE with sufficient US postage stamps or your materials will not be returned. DO NOT USE METERED POSTAGE, FED-EX OR SPECIAL DELIVERY FOR THE SASE. Every effort will be made to protect your materials, however, PS122 Gallery will assume no responsibility for their condition or return. Do not send anything you cannot easily replace!
Video and film artists: We are accepting applications for video and film art work. Work may be intended for single or multiple channel presentation as installation. Applicants who choose to submit more than one work in these media must do so on the same tape. Samples are accepted in VHS transfer only. Select and cue tape to a 3 minute segment which best represents the work for panel viewing. If no screening instructions are included, we will present the sample from the beginning. Make sure to label the tape with your name and return address. PS122 Gallery is currently unable to provide video, film and 3VD equipment for screening at the Gallery. If the work is selected for exhibition it is the artist's responsibility to provide adequate screening and/or installation equipment. |
